Energy Monitoring Quick Audit & Opportunity Starter Pack

A plant-level interactive audit to map meters, capture peak usage and process hotspots, and convert quick‑win opportunities into measurable, ownable actions. Collects estimates, owners, and simple baseline metrics so teams can verify savings and scale improvements across sites.

Energy Monitoring Quick Audit & Opportunity Starter Pack

This interactive quick audit helps operations and facilities teams rapidly identify, document, and assign easy, verifiable energy savings opportunities. Use this on the shop floor with a tablet or laptop. Capture where meters are, when peaks happen, process hotspots, quick wins (setbacks, compressed air repairs, lighting, motor control), and estimate savings so each opportunity has a measurable owner and follow-up action.

Tip: If you have utility bills or interval meter data, attach or reference them in the site record when you complete this audit so you can validate estimated savings later.

YYYY-MM-DD
Identify whether the site already has meters or sensors that can verify improvements.
Describe where main and sub meters are located, which circuits they cover, and any obvious gaps. e.g. 'Main electric near substation; sub-meters on line A (panel 3), compressors (meter ID XYZ).'
Describe hours or shifts when demand peaks (e.g. '08:00–10:00, 14:00–16:00, night shift 22:00–02:00'). If unknown, write 'unknown'.
List specific processes, machines, or makeup air units that seem to consume large amounts of energy or run continuously. Include rough runtime and why they're high-use.
Answer based on visible leaks, hissing, or history of high compressor runtime.
Optional — record typical operating pressure.
Optional — conservative estimate. Useful to approximate cost of leaks.
Include all driven motors (pumps, fans, conveyors, compressors).
VSDs can be a quick win when applied to fans, pumps and conveyors with variable load.
A baseline helps estimate savings from shutdowns or controls.
Estimate what proportion of fixtures in this area is LED.
Used to estimate savings from controls and LED conversions.
Adjusting setpoints or scheduling equipment to avoid unnecessary runtime.
Rough estimate, leave blank if unknown.
Person or role responsible for follow-up.
Shutting equipment when idle or adding simple timers/controls.
If you prefer, estimate monthly $ savings instead and note currency in the notes field.
Describe any other obvious opportunity not captured above.
Helpful for quick prioritization; refine later with metered verification.
Who will measure/verify (meter, interval data, sub-meter, clamp meter), expected timeline, and required approvals or small capital.
Record anything that may prevent implementation or require engineering input (safety, permitting, production constraints).
