Storytelling & Vision Checklist

Use this guided checklist to shape a clear, motivating story that connects your team's work to purpose and measurable outcomes. Complete each section, use the rehearsal prompts to test clarity and resonance, and save your responses so you can iterate and share.

List each audience segment, their priorities, likely concerns, what success looks like for them, and any influential stakeholders.
Write the single sentence you want people to remember. Aim for clarity and outcome focus.
Select the story elements you'll use. Not every message requires every element—choose what makes the story concise and persuasive.
List the most persuasive quantitative and qualitative evidence you can use (KPIs, recent results, customer stories, case examples). Note where you will source or verify each item.
Be specific: decide, support, approve, prioritize, start a pilot, change behavior, attend, contribute, etc. If different audiences need different actions, note them here.
Use these prompts during rehearsal to reveal gaps, confusion, or missing evidence.
Rate how clear and motivating the story feels right now: 1 = unclear, 5 = crisp and motivating.
List anticipated pushback, risks, or resource constraints and how you'll address them.
Who will deliver the message, when and where, and which channels will you use (email, team meeting, town hall, one-on-one, video)? Include timing and roles.
Define 2–3 measures you will track to know if the message improved alignment, decisions, or behavior (e.g., decisions made, attendance, survey scores, adoption metrics). Include the timeline and owners.
If 'No', use the refinement notes to capture next steps.
Capture edits after rehearsal, who will implement them, and a planned date for re-check.
