Values Activation Checklist

Use this checklist to move values from posters into day-to-day choices and routines. For each activation area, mark whether it’s in place, give a short example or evidence, and note an owner and review date. Save your progress and return to improve over time.

Which team, department, or group is completing this checklist?
Date of this review (YYYY-MM-DD).
List the values you are activating (brief comma-separated or bullet list).
Have each value been translated into 1–2 concrete decision principles that guide choices?
If yes, paste or describe the decision principle(s) and an example of how they were used. If no, note next steps.
Are concrete onboarding examples that show values in action included in new-hire materials or orientation?
Provide a sample onboarding example, exercise, story, or link to the material.
Are there clear, observable behaviors tied to each value that qualify someone for recognition?
Give 1–2 recognition criteria or examples of recognition practices linked to values.
Have leaders recorded specific behaviors they will model and how often they will demonstrate them?
List named leader commitments (who will do what and how often).
Are simple prompts, surveys, or indicators in place to measure whether values guide daily choices?
Provide sample questions, prompts, or metrics (e.g., % of decisions referencing principle, example logs, pulse survey Qs).
Have values been embedded into regular rituals (team check-ins, huddles, performance conversations, handovers)?
Describe specific rituals where values are named and used (e.g., start-of-shift question, retro prompt).
What is the current status for this team?
List the next three concrete actions to move activation forward, with rough dates if possible.
Name the person or role accountable for following up on the next steps.
When will this checklist be reviewed again? (YYYY-MM-DD)
1 = Not confident, 5 = Very confident.
1.0 10.0
Anything else worth recording (barriers, quick wins, resources needed).
