Emotional Intelligence (EI) Self-Assessment & Development Plan

Purpose

This interactive assessment helps you quickly surface strengths and growth opportunities across four emotional intelligence domains: self-awareness, self-management, social awareness, and relationship management. Answer honestly — the tool is for your growth. After scoring, use the one-page development plan to set a SMART goal, pick daily micro-practices, collect peer feedback, and schedule check-ins.

How to use

  1. Rate each statement from 1 (Rarely/Strongly Disagree) to 5 (Almost Always/Strongly Agree).
  2. Follow the scoring guidance below to understand your domain and overall patterns.
  3. Complete the reflection prompts and the development plan. Save the result and use it in coaching or 1:1s.

Scoring guidance

Sum items for each domain (each domain has 5 items). Domain scores range 5–25. Interpretation (use as a starting point): <10 = development priority, 10–17 = useful strength to improve, >17 = relative strength. Overall EI score range 20–100. Look for uneven domain scores — strong overall EI with a weak domain often shows predictable breakdowns in relationships or stress.
