Competitor & Market Mapping Template

Use this interactive worksheet to record competitors, compare price points and features, choose attributes for a two‑axis positioning map, and surface whitespace and defensible differentiation. Fill each competitor block you care about (leave unused blocks blank). When you save, the platform will store your map data so you can iterate, export, or copy this template for other opportunities.

Give this market map a short descriptive title (e.g., 'Local HVAC maintenance — small commercial buildings')
Briefly describe the customer problem or opportunity you want to map (one or two sentences).
Select the attribute that will run on the horizontal axis.
Select the attribute that will run on the vertical axis.
Optional: provide a more specific axis label (e.g., 'Monthly price', 'Time to value').
Optional: provide a more specific axis label (e.g., 'Customer satisfaction', 'Number of features').
Name or product offering (leave blank if unused).
e.g., $49/month, one-time $3k, free + paid add-ons
Who do they serve? (SMBs, enterprises, hobbyists, agencies, etc.)
List 3–6 key features or claims they promote.
Where they excel (brand, integrations, price, reach).
Known pain points, missing features, poor service, expensive onboarding.
Quick note to place them on the map (e.g., 'high price, high feature depth').
Repeat competitor block. Up to 6 competitor blocks are provided.
Describe groups of competitors that cluster together on attributes (e.g., 'low price / low feature', 'high price / high service').
Describe underserved zones on the map where customers' needs are not well served.
List ways you could differentiate in whitespace areas that are hard for rivals to copy (process, relationships, unique expertise, data, licensing, community, integrations).
Practical low-cost tests you could run next (ads, landing page, outreach, pricing experiment, concierge MVP).
Document immediate actions, owners, and timing (e.g., 'Run pricing test in 2 weeks — owner: Alex').
1 = low confidence (guess), 5 = high confidence (data-driven)
