SaaS Feasibility Quick Assessment

Purpose: Use this quick assessment to capture the facts that matter when deciding whether to build software. Answer honestly — the goal is clarity, not perfection. The form will save your responses so you can compare ideas over time.

How to use it: Spend 10–20 minutes. For each item, give the best short answer you have. At the end you’ll record an overall recommendation and next step.

Interpretation hints: Multiple 'yes' answers to repeatability, defensibility, early revenue, and reasonable dev costs usually favor prototyping. Strong red flags or very high ops burden suggest starting with a low-cost alternative (no-code, integrations, templates, or a productized service).

Optional: who completed this assessment.
Optional: YYYY-MM-DD or a short note (saved as text).
Do multiple users face this problem regularly and now, not hypothetically? Answer Yes if you can name multiple customers who have it.
Be concrete: who has the problem, what do they struggle to do, and what happens as a result?
Will you have something that discourages easy copying?
Explain briefly: where would a competitor need to go to reproduce this?
Order-of-magnitude estimate to reach an initial working prototype or MVP. Use a single number (e.g., 15000).
How many weeks until a testable MVP?
List the smallest features required to test whether customers will pay.
1 = No clear channel, 5 = Clear, low-cost channel to many buyers
1.0 10.0
Ways to get early paying users or pilots accelerate learning.
Estimate monthly revenue achievable within first 3–6 months if tests go well. Leave blank if unknown.
1 = Low (mostly self-serve), 5 = High (hands-on, complex integrations)
1.0 10.0
Include customer support, integrations, uptime, legal/regulatory obligations, and maintenance.
Explain why you picked these and how severe each is.
Choose the most appropriate next step based on the answers above.
Summarize the main reasons behind your recommendation.
Example: Create one-page landing page for pre-sales in 2 weeks; validate 10 paid customers in 8 weeks; build no-code prototype in 4 weeks.
