Loyalty Program Design Worksheet

Use this guided worksheet to design a loyalty program that increases visit frequency without eroding margin. Capture your goals, tiering, earning and redemption rules, integration needs, financial assumptions, and a simple launch test you can run to prove incrementality.

This form saves a structured design that your team can revisit, iterate on, and submit for pilot tracking.

Name this design (e.g., 'Main St - 2026 Pilot').
Short identifier for this design version (e.g., 'TieredPilot-v1').
Choose the main outcome you want from the program.
Who are your ideal members? (e.g., weekday lunch crowd, families, cocktail guests).
Select the tier structure you plan to start with; adjust later if needed.
Example: 1 point per $1 spend; 10 points per visit; points per item; or visit-count based rewards.
List excluded items, capped categories, or promo exceptions (e.g., alcohol excluded).
Example: 100 points = $10 off; free appetizer at 200 points; tier-specific redemptions. Include minimum redemption granularity.
Any limits (e.g., max discount per check), blackout dates, or stacking rules.
Enter estimated % of points that will never be redeemed (used to model liability).
Select the systems you'll need to integrate at launch.
E.g., transaction timestamp, items purchased, check total, guest ID, channel (in-store, online).
Describe an A/B test or pilot: control group, measurement window, KPIs (visits per member, spend per visit), targeting and sample sizes. Keep it practical and short (4–8 weeks typical).
Average check, marginal food & labor cost percentage, expected change in visits, expected change in AOV, and estimated redemption cost per reward.
Include tech/platform fees, rewards cost, marketing, and incremental staff costs.
Pick the metrics you will use to judge program health and profitability.
E.g., incremental revenue > rewards cost + platform fees; CAC < expected LTV increase; visit frequency increase >= X%.
High-level dates: build, pilot, evaluate, full rollout.
Record decisions, unresolved questions, or people to involve (e.g., POS vendor, marketing, finance).
