Continuous Improvement Idea & Experiment Submission

Capture an idea, design a short experiment, and track results so great ideas don't get lost. Use this form to create a clear plan (who does what and when), record baseline and outcome metrics, and make an adoption decision. Suggested review cadence: discuss new submissions during daily or weekly huddles; review experiment results at the end of the experiment period.

Give the idea a short, descriptive name (eg. 'Smaller side portions at lunch').
What is the idea? Include the problem it addresses, who noticed it, and simple context.
What outcome do you expect? Be specific: reduce waste, speed service, raise check average, improve quality, improve safety, reduce cost, etc.
Choose the main expected outcome.
Name or role responsible for running and reporting the test.
People who should be informed or who help run the test (eg. manager, chef, barista).
Describe the test steps: who will do what, when it starts and ends, what resources are needed, and any special instructions. Keep tests small, short, and measurable.
How long will the test run? Short tests (3–14 days) usually work best.
Record current measurements to compare against (eg. average ticket time, daily waste weight, sales per day).
List 1–3 measurable metrics you'll monitor (eg. 'daily waste in kg', 'avg ticket time in minutes', 'number of remakes'). These should match your baseline measurements.
What threshold or result will count as success? Be specific (eg. 'reduce waste by at least 20% during the test period').
How risky is this experiment to operations or guests?
Does this test need manager approval or a health/safety check before starting?
Summarize what happened, the measured results, observations, and any unexpected effects.
Choose whether to adopt, modify and retest, or reject the idea after reviewing results.
Where should this idea be discussed?
Who will do what next after the decision (eg. update SOPs, train staff, change POS).
If yes, results can be published to the domain toolkit so other locations can learn and reuse the idea.
