Use this tracker to record recurring measurements for food waste, energy, and sustainable sourcing. Capture the inputs for simple ROI/payback calculations on retrofit or efficiency projects. Save entries consistently so you can compare locations, monitor trends, and connect to dashboards or improvement experiments.

Helpful formulas (for manual calculation or downstream automation):

  • Estimated waste cost ($) = food_waste_lbs × average_food_cost_per_lb
  • Retrofit payback (years) = retrofit_project_cost_usd / retrofit_annual_savings_usd

Choose the period type for this entry.
Total weight of food-level waste for the period (lbs). Include prep scraps, plate waste, compost stream if tracked.
Average ingredient cost per lb used to estimate dollar impact. Leave blank if you will enter estimated waste cost directly.
If you know the dollar estimate, enter it here. Otherwise leave blank and downstream tools can calculate from lbs × cost per lb.
Total energy consumption for the period (from meter or utility bill allocation).
Energy cost attributable to this period. Helpful when comparing projects or tracking savings.
Percent of total food & non-food spend sourced from sustainable-certified, local, or preferred suppliers. Enter a whole-number percentage (0–100).
Capital cost for a retrofit or efficiency project when evaluating ROI. Optional — use when tracking project business case.
Estimated annual cash savings the project will deliver (energy, waste, labor). Used to compute payback (cost ÷ annual savings).
Optional details: method of measurement, meter IDs, assumptions, related purchase orders, or action items.
