Wellbeing conversation prompts & micro-actions

Use these prompts to open honest, constructive conversations without turning check-ins into therapy. Pair prompts with one micro-action the team can try next week.

Prompts (keep answers short)

  • What felt most draining this week? (30–60s)
  • What’s one small change that would reduce that drain? (30–60s)
  • Is anyone regularly working outside normal hours or skipping breaks? (Yes / No; who?)
  • Do we have the context and support to finish our highest-priority work? (Yes / No)
  • What’s one thing the team can stop doing this week to free capacity?

Suggested micro-actions (choose one)

  1. Limit WIP by capping active items per person for two weeks and measure throughput.
  2. Block a team-wide 90-minute focus block twice this week and track interruptions.
  3. Protect at least one day where no meetings are scheduled for makers/technicians.
  4. Require explicit handoffs and an owner before work moves to the next stage to reduce rework.
  5. Swap one weekly meeting for a 15-minute deep-work period and record the result.

How to run the prompt exercise

  1. Facilitator reads one prompt aloud during the huddle and asks two people to answer briefly.
  2. Team chooses a single micro-action and an owner. Keep experiments small — two-week duration is ideal.
  3. Record the baseline metric and what success looks like so the next huddle can evaluate learning.
