Audit Preparation Checklist

  • Define scope and objectives (which process, timeframe, product family).
  • Gather background data: incidents, defects, OTD, downtime, maintenance logs, recent change records.
  • Identify participants: supervisor, 1–3 frontline staff, maintenance/quality as needed.
  • Reserve 2–4 hours for a rapid audit; longer for deep dives.
  • Prepare the assessment form and bring a device or printed copies for notes.
  • Plan safety precautions and ensure auditors comply with PPE and site rules.
  • Share the purpose with the team: learning and improvement, not blame.
  • Decide where draft findings will be shared (huddle, email, shared drive) and the timeline for actions.
